Remember How I Told You I Love Birthdays?

There is a reason I do love them so much. When I lived in the Boise area I worked with the coolest chick ever! Princess E. made me realize that a Birthday should not be celebrate in one single day, rather a string of days and if you are really loved, a month. My sweet Princess E. made my birthday extend into April. I got a package for my Birthday and she made me a lovely apron! Thank you Princess E. for making my Birthday special just one more time.

Sorry for the picture quality-Ki took it.

The Steve Experiment

Why, that is a very attractive fanny pack you have sir

I can't believe I am smiling and I think this is going to end up on her dumb blog

A few weeks ago Steve and I had an appointment with a neurologist at Barrow Neurological Institute. We were on a 4 month wait list but someone called and canceled their appointment-Thank you stranger. We met with Dr. Maganti and he was great! We felt a lot better about the future after discussing Steve's "events" with him. Part of finding out why Steve is having events meant a possible 7 day stay at the lovely resort and spa-I mean St. Joe's Hospital in downtown Phoenix while being hooked up to a EEG and EKG monitor and 24 hour camera surveillance. They were able to squeeze Steve into the unit with a weeks notice and last Thurs that is were Steve was. He got hooked up to these monitors and had to be belted in the bed or belted in the chair beside the bed with a camera watching him at all times. With the help of a clever friend, and the WiFi hookup, he kept busy for 2 days. He had an event on Friday while the neurologist was present and they got all the data they needed. On Saturday he got to come home. He is having "non-epileptic events" that are very treatable and in most cases the seizures stop. All in all it's good news. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers and special thanks to Nicole-best carpooling friend ever, Homer, Wart and the Dean's for keeping an eye out on the girls!

Yo Yo

So it's been a while and a lot has been going on. Ki has 16 days of kindergarten left. WOW, that was a quick year. What in the heck am I going to do with her all summer? My nephew turned 9 the other day. I was at his birth and I can't believe that it has been 9 years. My little sister turned 14 a few weeks ago-how did that happen? Hailey is 14??? Steve and I celebrated 8 years of marriage this month-what? Now I am really starting to feel old. I'll stop that now.

What's Love Got To Do With It?

Spokane Washington Temple April 14th, 2001

I think this explains our relationship to this day. I have my eyes closed and for some reason I trust this one with my whole life. He keeps me on my toes, but not literally-I am two inches taller than him. Steve has a great sense of humor and loves to build mine. He works hard at everything he does. He loves his girls and I am proud to be one of them. He is generous and his patience is growing each day that he spends with me. I love it when he leaves toothpaste love notes on my glasses. I love it when he puts shoes under the fitted sheet on my side of the bed, and then pretends to be asleep. I love it when he tries to teach me things, like how to use a tape measure. I love it when he rolls his eyes at me because I don't get it-what ever it is. I love to see him work and enjoy his life. I love it when he smiles. I just love my boy and am so glad that I have been so lucky to spend the past 8 years as his wife. I look forward to our happily ever after and our forever and forever and every day after that.

Let's Not Go There

The whole group,
Ki is on the far left bottom row

She made no attempt to hide her true feelings

My sweet Ki has issues with being on stage or being singled out. She was nominated by her teacher Mrs. Campbell-Hernandez for "showing character through responsibility." Which meant that she would get an award, a pin, a cookie, and her picture in the yearbook with the other Rancho Gabriella Elementary School students being presented with this award. There were about 20 students ranging from kindergartners to 8th graders. Ki didn't want anything to do with this! She hid behind Steve when her name was called and grudgingly went to the stage for the photo after a 20 minute pep talk form mom and dad. When she was nominated, Mrs. Campbell-Hernadez said, "Ki is a wonderful student and friend. She is willing to assist other students when they need help, does her personal best in everything that she does and is very reliable. She exhibits all six pillars of character on a daily basis!" Wow, what a reflection of her awesome parents-hee hee. She is a great girl and I feel lucky to be her mom. She takes after Steve in so many ways, for that I am glad!

Consider it...

Drum roll please,

Ta-Da:

One for Ashley D.

One for Mary Rhea

And one for Jenna

I have completed my projects for my pay it forward post. I was so excited to get to part of such a fun blog tag-ish thing. Thanks to all who read my blog and participate in my fun and games. I love winning things, but never win things. So this made me feel like I won, and helped other cool people win something. I made half aprons. El has dubbed them "girly aprons." I had a stash of retro fabrics (thanks to my mother in-law) that I thought would be perfect. I have so much going on-trying to figure out why my husband is having seizures. But I made time to sew because it was relaxing! Now all I have to do it mail 2 of them to Utah. I hope that my devoted friends love them!

Squashed like a Bug

Okay, I realize that my last post was vague and led some of you to believe that I was pregnant. Let me just squash that rumor right now. NO, I am not. Most of you know that I do want to have another kid, but that ain't going to happen right now. When I said fun and games-I was being a bit facetious-go figure.
I am married to an amazing man who lives a very disciplined life driven by allergies and sensitivities to many things.
There is a reason I don't : wear perfume, wear smelly lotion, wear makeup, use scented laundry detergent, own a pet, order pizza on the weekends, let the door to door sales man in my house with the latest and greatest cleaning product, burn candles, attend/host candle parties, use air fresheners in the bathroom-and sometimes that would be nice, eat out often, drink tap water, cook with tap water, stay at home when we use pest control, cook with sugar or eggs if Steve is going to try to eat it. Enough of the do nots. There are still so many things that we enjoy in life. And by avoiding certain things-Steve has a great life. Things just get out of whack sometimes.
In Feb Steve got the awesome cold virus that was going around, and affecting the ears. Imagine a child' ear infection as an adult. He hasn't been a work for several weeks b/c who wants to let him climb poles and work with "hot" power when he is having dizzy spells? Apparently not APS. Now this is were it gets good.
On Thurs (the 12th) Steve was getting ready to call his doctor so that he could get cleared to go back to work. Someone else had other plans for us. I was taking care of some stuff in my room and walked past the computer room to find Steve laying on the floor. That's cool-really it is, we have tile floor in the entire house. So I thought it was strange that he would choose the floor to lay down on rather that a couch or bed. When I tried to get him up, he wasn't responding to me. LONG story short-Steve had some "seizures "and I called 911 and we spent 38 hours at the abomination of a hospital, Del Webb. Side note-If you value prompt care or want good care-don't go there!!!!! They will send you home even if you are having "seizure like activity" and tell you to just take the medicine. If it didn't stop the "tremors" in the hospital, why would it stop them at home? Cause it didn't.
So on Monday (the 16th) Steve and I flew to Salt Lake to see Dr. Remington. We figured that if he can find a parasite in the intestines (last year), that he could help figure out what was causing the "tremors". My very cool brother Caleb and his sweet wife Annie let us crash at their apt in Orem for a few days while we went to Dr Remington, and then the neurologist that he referred us to. She was great but we couldn't stay in Utah for weeks or months while she tried to discover the reason for the "tremors". She told us to come home and try to find a doctor in Phoenix. But it was worth trying to see if she could help while we were in town. We still don't know why Steve is having these "tremors" but we are going to keep trying to get to the root of the problem. The good thing is that epilepsy has been ruled out.
So if I checked out for a week and I am not around much in the next few weeks, I am just feeling like I got squashed like a bug, a big bug!
