If anyone was wondering how many bottles of Hyland's Homeopathic Teething Tablets it would take to poison a kid, it is 6. I only know this because my darling El got into a 5year old bottle and consumed an unknown amount of them tonight. I phoned poison control and they said that she'd be fine. So I guess I am cleaning out the cabinets and putting all the meds in my closet on the top shelf. They will be safe in there, Steve can't even reach that self.
We had a great week of Christmas fun. My Parents, and 3 of my siblings came to visit. We had a full house but it was fun! My poor dad got to visit the Advantage Urgent care while he was here. He had a sinus infection. And then a lovely cold passed through the family and is still lingering in our home.
For Steve's Birthday Dinner a.k.a. Christmas Dinner, we ate Prime Rib, Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and yams, roasted potatoes and yams, corn, carrots and green beans, green bean casserole, a green salad, dinner rolls-thanks mom, and then for dessert, apple pie, blueberry pie a.k.a. Steve's Birthday pie, angel food cake, cheese cake, lemon bars and cream puffs. Yes, it was a lot of food but we had 20 people feasting. It was so wonderful to be able to gather with both the Stott's and the Smith's. We watched movies, played PS3-they did, not me, ate good food, went golfing-that was fun!, and Mom, Hailey and I even made it to Twilight.
After my family left, the Smith grandchildren got to have the annual Un-Birthday party. Grandma Lora gets the kids together and they get to go to Wal mart and pick out a gift. It is very entertaining! They all had their toys in hand as they stood in line and said "what did you pick," to one another. Then we got home and opened the gifts and they spent hours playing with their new toys. It has been a busy week but it was so awesome having family here!!!

Kindergarten Art
"Did you know that oilly crayons are called oil pastels," Ask Ki she's a budding artist. She brought home a picture last week. "It is sunflowers and starry night," by Vincent GoVan". I haven't even tried to correct her because it is so priceless!!! Steve and I both have a creative artist in us so I shouldn't be surprised at the way she draws, paints and creates.

Party #2
Blowing out all 3 candles was a lot to ask
Cyrena is soooo excited about all of the fuss
El's birthday was the 8th, Cyrena's is the 21st. With all the craziness of Christmas, Jenna and I thought that we should do a double Birthday Party. It was a beautiful afternoon at the park. Steve and David (supportive husbands) BBQ-ed hot dogs and then we had cupcakes. It was a great time.

Kindergarten Winter Wonderland
As we have all turned into Politically Correct citizens, we can't have Christmas programs at school. But we can celebrate "Winter" so Ki's school does a Winter program. They got to sing, Winter Wonderland, Frosty, Jingle Bells-with one verse in Spanish, and Let It Snow. They recited a few poems too, I am a Snowman Cold and White, The Little Snowman, Five Little Snowmen, and Snowflakes. I am so proud of Ki for all the practicing that she did and for memorizing her lines about Frosty. I still can't believe that I have a Kindergatener.

Party #1
As I mentioned it was El's birthday. We had a party with Grandpa Homer and Grandma Lora. We were getting ready to eat tacos with grandma's super yummy homemade shells, and it was time for prayer. El was asked to say it and she said, "after we sing happy birthday." And she sang with us, as loud as could be. I think she liked the attention. After we sang, she prayed. Then we had blueberry birthday pie, and I forgot the candles-boo hoo. Thanks Grandma for making dinner it was a great night.
P.S. party #2 is scheduled for Sat with our good friend Cyrena who is a December baby too.

My Baby is 3

I can't believe that El is already 3. She is an amazing little girl. She loves to tease her sister and even tries to play tricks on Steve and I. She is like me, when she is trying to be sneaky or funny she thinks she is so cleaver that she laughs so much and you know something is going on. She likes to take naps on Steve's pillow and when he gets home she'll tell him, "Dad, I slept on you pillow". She is in this mode these days when Steve comes home from work she'll stop what she is doing and cover her face with her hands and will sit still and giggle until Steve says, "where's El", and then she'll uncover her face and give him loves. She loves to eat pancakes and I'll find half eaten ones all around the house. She says the sweetest prayers at bed time. She likes to pull Ki's hair or hit her and then turn around and give hugs and say, "I love you sister". She likes to sing the ABC's and popcorn popping. She loves to go see Grandma Lora and Grandpa Homer for Sunday dinner and gives them big hugs. She has almost gone a year without breaking her arm again, knocking on wood right now-did you hear it? I love to see her discover new things. She makes me pretty happy.
*Today is also her cousin Jack's Birthday, they were born on the same day thanks to the Ohio-Arizona time difference. And it is also my good friend Ashley DeVinna's birthday, your card is in the mail. Happy Birthday to all!
I love you El-Rooskie!!!

Thanksgiving-like-last week
I am a bit on the s-l-o-w side of life these days. El and I have been fighting a chest cold and I have been consumed by a Stott family Christmas project.
But we did have a very nice Thanksgiving. Steve's mom rocked the turkey and Steve made some killer baby-back ribs. Aunt Deena and her family came to the West side with salads and dinner rolls-yum. I got to make the pumpkin pies, did I ever tell you that I LOVE pumpkin pie. I do, it's true! We had a nice dinner but now that I think about it, no nap. On Black Friday we hung our Christmas lights outside. Our house had the nails to hang them and we have a dedicated light switch for them (it was a long an difficult process figuring out what that light switch did exactly) so I had to have my lights up. We were a strand short so we packed up and went to Target on Black Friday, something I swore I'd never do. It wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be, we even let the girls do some shopping.
The girls love the Christmas lights and I think they look great. Thanks Steve for all your hard work!

MOM, Birthdays are like Boogers...Remember???

You sent me this card a few years ago and I've been saving it to send back to you. So here it is.
On the inside it reads:
The more you have, the harder it is to breath.
So, I was wondering is it, huh, is it harder to breath?
I do want you to know that I think you are amazing and I am so glad that you get to be my mom. Who else would put up with all my shenanigans? I do have to say that one of my favorite things you ever did for me was to buy me thick white tights when I was going through the awkward non-shaving period in my life. It so grossed you out but you still loved me and my hairy legs.
I admire you for the wife that you are, the sister that you are, the grandma that you are, the taxi driver that you still are, the vessel that you've been to all eight of us Stott kids, the friend that you are, the way you serve in your callings, the supportive Bishop's wife you've been-all 3 times, the reader that you are, the silly girl that you become when you are either with your sister or you daughters-late at night, the soccer, basketball, and volleyball mom that you have been and you're still at it, the seminary teacher, the barber that you've been, the cook that you are, the traditionalist that you are, and mostly for the ever supportive, very cool mother that you are! So many times in my teen-age years I would get upset with you and go into my room and rant about how I was never going t0 be like you. I was dumb then and I was stupid enough to think that you didn't know what was best for me. I was wrong and now I find myself doing those things that I swore I'd NEVER do and you know what, I love it! You have instilled many great lessons in me and my siblings and we are very lucky to have a mother who sacrificed so much for us. I hope that you know how much I still need you to be my mom and you are a Super Star to me. And for the record I have never shoved my finger up my nose and posed for a picture just to freak you out(hee hee).
I Love You Mom-Happy Birthday!!!

No three turkeys are alike
When you ask a 3yr old boy, and two, 2 1/2 year old girls to make turkeys, you might be surprised by their creations. Boy(Logan) picks pink paper for his turkey for forgoes the turkey's head and just glues the eyes and beak to the feathers. Girl #1(Cyrena) picks white paper and makes the turkey with great attention to detail. Girl #2 (El) picks pink paper and at least gets the eyes on the turkey's head.
When Ki got home from school she asked where the turkey's feet are-oh man, I forgot that detail.
I love how different each of the children are. They are great kids!

Haircuts
If I remember correctly, Ki was almost three and her Grandma Kay gave her her first haircut. El, almost three, got her first ever cut last week by Grandma Lora. I didn't realize that until today. I am not good at the frills and cutie stuff when it comes to hair. Why do I have two girls??? Maybe one day, and I'm sure it will be to late, I will get into cute hair and all the frills- Or not.

The "Real Halloween"

Ki got her way, two Halloweens. I told Steve that he got to take them out and about b/c I have done trunk or treat by myself the past 3 years. He was a good sport and went out with them. I stayed home to pass out candy. We are in a new neighborhood so I wasn't sure how much candy we would need. Well I over did it and now have 5 extra pounds stuck on my butt to prove that I bought to much candy. El was very shy about asking for candy and by the last few houses she could say "Thank you". They had a good time and Ki keeps asking if she can have candy for breakfast-NO WAY!!!

Our Ward Halloween Party

Ki and El had a weekend full of cousins and then on Saturday night we went to our ward's Halloween party. With some encouragement from a friend, I made El her candy corn costume and then Ki pushed my creative limits with a request for a peacock costume. They are pretty cute girls I think! The only bummer about a party before Halloween is that Ki asked my today if she still gets the "real Halloween," I guess the days of ignorance are over for her...and me.
When the Boys were away the girls did play!
Steve and his big bro Rob went hunting this weekend and so as Ki said, "You and Becky are going to be lonely, so you need to keep each other company." Becky packed up her 3 kiddos and her scrapping stuff and drove across the valley to come play. With all five kids in the house I realized that my house is Loud! When we tiled the entire house I didn't realize that there is nothing to buffer the noise. But the kids had so much fun!!! My girlfriends Jenna and Tammy came to enjoy a girls night out-with little people. El stayed up until midnight-I need to take ownership of that, but not right now. Becky and I crashed at 3:30 am and the kids were up around 6:30 am. I am still hurting from that one- I am so not young anymore! Steve and Rob didn't get anything whi
le hunting except peace and quiet? Maybe even to quiet for Rob.

The ZOO

Am I a bad mother if I take one of my children to the Zoo with friends while my other child is at school? Well I did and it was fun (Huge Thanks to Ashley for the invite). I have lived in the Phoenix area for a 5 or so years and the Zoo is one place that we have never seen. Why? Because we are lame! El thought it was cool to see the animals and when she saw the Texas Long horns she turned to me and said, "mom that cow has funky ears!" -we don't get out much. I guess I owe Ki a trip to the zoo now.
